DESIGN OUTDOOR SAUNA
The modern outdoor garden sauna with flat roof
A perfect place full of strength and peace to bring body and mind into harmony. An oasis of well-being and relaxation with the scent of forest and wood. A room in which minimalism becomes pure luxury. With the KOYA garden sauna, we have succeeded in stylishly combining the perfect design of a modern outdoor sauna with the highest quality standards in one product. The shape of the outdoor sauna house was chosen by the architects and product developers so that it appears angular and cubist on the one hand, but also soft and pleasing on the other. The high design standards are particularly emphasized by the fact that the garden sauna cube is a flush unit from the outside and the facade details are cleverly solved. The KOYA design outdoor sauna is available in several sizes. The side walls of the outdoor sauna can be made either of transparent glass or as opaque wall elements. The top of the garden sauna is formed by a flat roof that drains inside. The colors and materials of the exterior facade can be individually adapted to your needs, so that each sauna house becomes a unique, unmistakable piece. Metals such as aluminum or stainless steel are particularly used for the cladding. For the interior of the KOYA Sauna Cube, we rely on the highest quality wood processing from hemlock fir wood for wall and ceiling cladding and abachi wood for the benches. Depending on the requirements and room volume, the system is equipped with a unique designer sauna stove with the appropriate heating output. The modern KOYA garden sauna is 100% manufactured in Germany and transported to you as a whole after completion. The outdoor sauna can be installed on areas in the garden, on terraces or courtyards, on all gravel, stone or wooden surfaces. So that you can enjoy your sauna dream straight away, the assembly is carried out with a mobile crane - quickly and easily! Immerse yourself in the KOYA sauna world!

KOYA EXTERIOR DESIGN
Customize the KOYA Design Sauna House
The KOYA garden sauna not only offers different sizes, but also presents a variety of facade elements, different roof designs as well as colors and surfaces.
COLORS & SURFACES
The design of the KOYA outdoor sauna aims to attract particular attention from its viewers with clear lines and uniform shapes. The external appearance of the garden sauna cube is influenced in particular by the choice of facades and materials. In terms of construction, the outer skin of the sauna house consists of a shapely, metallic cladding that can be customized. Here, for example, it is possible to obtain metals such as aluminum or stainless steel with surface treatments in a brushed, satin or glossy look. In addition, the colors of the sauna cladding can be determined within a color range. Special effects can be achieved if the entire sauna house is made in chrome or mirror look. Imagine how discreetly a building blends into nature when the surroundings are largely reflected in the facade. Talk to us about your ideas!

ROOF DESIGN
Even though the KOYA garden sauna is already an absolute eye-catcher with a flat roof - in the standard version - there are still ways to further enhance the spatial experience inside the sauna cube. By installing roof windows with round or square shapes, additional daylight can flow into the sauna room via the ceiling during the dark seasons. This makes the room appear bright and friendly even in shady locations. It is also a very special spectacle to lie in the sauna and watch the sky and the clouds pass by. A view into the distance that gives inner peace and strength. At night, the picture is even more beautiful for the sauna user and you can even look at the starry sky during your sauna session. An unforgettable experience that fills the room with excitement and energy.

FACADE OPTIONS
The facade design of a modern sauna house has a strong influence on the external perception of the building but also on the well-being inside. Would you prefer an open, transparent garden sauna that allows insights and views or would you prefer a sheltered place where you can be alone? Thanks to a carefully selected range of panoramic windows, doors and non-transparent walls, KOYA sauna modules can be individually adapted to your requirements and wishes. The exclusive design of the sauna facades is particularly worth mentioning. Our product designers and architects have developed a system that is completely flush with the metal facade of the sauna cube. In detail, this means that the frames of the window and door elements are completely covered by glass and open outwards so as not to lose any space inside. The wall elements of the garden sauna are also 100% flush embedded in the outer skin. This makes the object appear very uniform and perfect. In the outdoor sauna area, this innovative solution is absolutely unique and will attract attention. The opaque wall elements of the sauna are made of 50-70mm solid wood, which are covered on the outside with a metal facade made of aluminum or stainless steel to create a modern look. The windows and doors are equipped with double or triple glazing for good insulation. This means that the energy loss of the outdoor sauna when heating is low, even in the cold seasons, and the temperature in the room can be kept constant.

KOYA INTERIOR DESIGN
Equip the KOYA design sauna house according to your wishes
Would you like to give the interior of your garden sauna a special atmosphere with a certain style? Do you perhaps already have an idea of how the seating and lying areas of your sauna house should be arranged so that you can relax as much as possible alone or with friends and family? By choosing the right materials for the floor, ceiling, walls and sauna benches, you can create special atmospheres. Would you like to create a more modern interior for your sauna house or do you prefer a traditional chalet or cabin character? Should the interior of your outdoor sauna be characterized by light, fresh-looking wood or dark, elegant wood? So that you can create your very own personal sauna room when designing, we offer you a carefully selected selection of floor coverings, wall and ceiling paneling made from the highest quality natural materials. Only the best woods from abachi, hemlock fir and spruce are used for the interior of the KOYA outdoor sauna. When it comes to sauna wood, it is particularly important that the material is uniform, durable and stable. In addition, the sauna woods mentioned have low thermal conductivity and create a pleasant atmosphere with their warm colors. To build your garden saunas, we only use renewable types of wood from sustainable forestry, preferably from regions such as Europe and Canada. Tropical woods are not used for nature conservation reasons.

Fragen & Antworten
When building an outdoor sauna or a garden sauna, a building permit is not always necessary.
In most federal states, the construction of a garden sauna only requires approval if the space volume exceeds a certain number of cubic meters.
In any case, the construction of a sauna should be coordinated with the responsible building authority in order to avoid later misunderstandings after the project has been implemented.
Below you will find a non-binding graphic showing in which federal state which sauna sizes are only permitted with a building permit and which are permitted without a building permit.
The construction of a sauna house without a permit also depends on whether you are in a residential area or outside a residential area.
Within a settlement, larger building volumes tend to be permitted without a building permit.
All information provided here serves only as a first orientation and should always be checked for up-to-dateness and local conditions.
If a building permit is required for your outdoor sauna according to the building authority or development plan, the KOYA planning department will be happy to support you with your project.

The KOYA garden sauna is manufactured completely according to your wishes and designed down to the smallest detail. The manufacturing method has the significant advantage that the sauna house is delivered to the later construction site already finished and is functional and ready for use within a very short time. (Plug & Play)
During production, you have enough time to prepare the building site for delivery. Proper preparation includes a stable foundation, a power supply and, if necessary, a paved or gravelled surface with an access path to your outdoor sauna. (Foundation plans will be made available to you depending on the type and size of the sauna)
Your custom-made garden sauna will be transported by truck. The sauna house is then simply placed using a mobile crane. The installation location should be agreed in advance on the feasibility of the crane boom.
Overall, experience has shown that this approach is much cheaper and more relaxed than having a construction team spend several days assembling a sauna house that has been disassembled into its individual parts.
The placement of the sauna modules can be accompanied by a KOYA team upon customer request.
We would be happy to plan the exact construction process for you!
In the best case, the outdoor sauna house is firmly connected to the ground.
The structural engineering foresees strip or point foundations for the building, which keep it on the ground even in strong wind and weather conditions. The sauna's supporting structure has adjustable feet that are equipped with holes. These adjustable feet are then easily and firmly connected to the foundations using concrete cores.
There is a special foundation plan for each outdoor sauna size. Strip foundations are usually used for garden saunas. These are particularly stable due to their closed construction and are therefore recommended.
Point foundations can also be used, but are more susceptible to subsidence, which in the worst case could lead to the sauna house leaning.
Detailed instructions on how the foundations should be constructed for each KUMO product are available on request.
Who carries out the foundation work for a garden sauna?
Ideally, you should have the foundation work described above carried out by a local gardening and landscaping company. This will save you money and travel time. Make sure that the earthworks and concreting work are completed in time for the sauna to be delivered.
Please also note that foundations need a certain amount of time to harden, depending on their size and concrete class. Make sure that the foundations are already completely hardened and able to bear weight when the sauna house is delivered.
Can the KUMO outdoor sauna also be placed on a wooden terrace or a stone terrace?
If you are planning to place the sauna house on a terrace with wooden or stone flooring, you have the option of setting the foundations a little deeper. In production, the adjustable feet are then made longer so that the sauna sits perfectly on the terrace flooring.
Once you have chosen a KUMO product, you will receive the appropriate plans and instructions for the correct execution of the foundations.
Don’t worry, it’s easier to implement than you think!
The sauna heater of the KOYA garden sauna is operated with a 400V connection. A 230 volt connection is therefore not sufficient to operate an outdoor sauna. The high voltage connection is required for full power to heat the room.
For safety reasons, a high voltage connection should always be installed professionally. We therefore recommend that you call in a specialist/electrician to connect the sauna. They will ensure that the correct cable cross-sections and IP plugs are used for the requirements.
The electricity for an outdoor sauna is usually branched off from the main power source in the house and laid with an underground cable, ideally in a conduit, to your garden sauna.
A KOYA sauna house is delivered with an open power cable so that it can be connected directly by an electrician after delivery.
Attention: Under no circumstances should you connect the power supply yourself! Unprofessional connections can lead to malfunctions in the sauna technology or, in the worst case, even fires, which in some cases are not covered by insurance.
What power sources are available for a garden sauna?
main power connection with fuse box
The best way to connect a sauna in the garden to a power source is to use the main power connection that is already in use and registered. This is usually located in the basement of a house and already has an electricity meter. The electrician can then tap into the power source directly and the electricity costs are then simply billed via the house connection.
Connect the garden sauna directly to the public power grid
If it is not possible to connect the sauna to an existing and registered power grid, it is also possible to connect the sauna to the public grid.
With this option, a new fuse box with an electricity meter must be installed. Expect costs of between EUR 1,000 and 1,500.
The information provided is non-binding.
Always seek professional advice on electrical issues from an electrician!
The completed sauna houses are delivered directly to you by a shipping company we trust. The shipping company has a lot of experience in transporting garden houses and garden saunas.
On site, the KUMO sauna is placed on the building plot using a standard mobile crane and then firmly connected to the ground. This plug & play process saves the customer a lot of time and high costs, as almost no assembly work is required.
Another advantage of complete transport is that all work goes through our production process in the factory with the utmost care. After completion of each production step, the progress of production is documented and checked for quality and functionality. After completion of the sauna product, there is a final inspection in which any possible errors are eliminated by our quality assurance team. Weather influences or difficult conditions due to on-site assembly are therefore excluded.
Once delivered and connected, your garden sauna is ready for use!
Then all you have to do is enjoy!
A KOYA designer sauna is a manufactured product that is individually made according to your specifications. Each sauna is unique and goes through the production process with great attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Starting with the supporting structure and the facades, through to the interior fittings and room furnishings, we manufacture the products exclusively in Germany.
Due to our high standards of quality and functionality of our sauna products, the number of units produced each year is limited.
Delivery times for the construction of a custom-made garden sauna vary depending on the season.
Of course, the choice of size, the level of expansion and the desired accessories also influence the production time of a designer garden sauna.
Our sales staff and consultants are always happy to inform you about current production times and annual production capacities.

The natural product wood is one of the most important components for us in the sauna area. Depending on the type of wood, color and processing, the wood used in the interior of a sauna contributes significantly to our well-being. In addition, with its unique structures and the smell of forest and resin, it stimulates our senses and puts us in harmony with nature.
To ensure that the interior design matches the look of the outdoor sauna, we offer you a selection of solid woods that reflect the corresponding look.
When processing wood, we attach great importance to the quality and processing of the wood material.
The sauna woods used for KOYA are
robust, durable, knot-free, abrasion-resistant, have low heat emission and thermal conductivity so that you do not burn yourself on them.
For loungers and benches we only use wood that has very little knotting and does not splinter or produce resin.
Which types of wood are used for a KOYA sauna?
Hemlock fir
Abachi wood
Spruce - sanded, brushed - flamed
pine wood
aspen
ash tree
Ultimately, the customer decides which wood is used. The choice of wood used is often a matter of taste.
All the woods we offer are suitable for the sauna area.
How can the surfaces of the sauna wood be treated?
natural
sanded, brushed, flamed
thermally treated
intensively thermally treated
The sauna stove is the center of the outdoor sauna and ensures the right temperature inside.
For the KOYA garden saunas we use an electric heater because it has proven to be reliable in modern times and safe compared to a wood-burning stove.
To ensure that the sauna is not too hot but also not too cold, the performance of the sauna heater must be adapted to the conditions of the sauna house.
For example, the size or volume of the sauna, the climate at the location, but also the insulation and number of glass elements in the room all play a role. In general, the performance of a sauna heater is higher in an outdoor sauna than in an indoor sauna.
The KOYA garden sauna offers different ovens depending on the size. The output of the ovens varies between 7.5-20 KW.
You can sit back and relax when choosing a sauna stove, as we always offer you the right stove for every product!
Request your dream sauna here !
The greatest energy consumption of an outdoor sauna naturally comes from the sauna heater, which has to heat the interior to up to 100 degrees Celsius. Depending on the volume of the room, the sauna heater requires a certain amount of heating power, which is specified per hour.
For example, let's assume that you use a KOYA sauna with a 2.5 x 2.5m floor space and a 7.5KW oven.
If you use your garden sauna once a week for about one hour (including preheating, sauna session, shutdown), this means that you consume 7.5kW/h per week at a cost of about 0.30 EUR.
This means that monthly electricity costs amount to around EUR 10. With consistent use, this means annual electricity consumption of around EUR 120.
Below you will find a table showing the power consumption depending on the power in KW and the duration per sauna session or sauna use:
Of course, the sauna control system, built-in loudspeakers and sauna lighting also consume a certain amount of energy. This can be ignored due to the low consumption values and is already included in the tolerance range of the assumed 30 cents per KW/h.
As can be seen from the above calculation, the maintenance of an outdoor sauna is relatively inexpensive.
We manufacture not only with love for the product but also with responsibility for our environment.
To build our outdoor saunas, we only use renewable wood from sustainable forestry.
Because we manufacture all KOYA garden saunas in Germany, we only have short transport routes to our end customers after completion.
We ensure that our suppliers source their goods regionally, thus reducing global transport routes.
Since we focus on the highest quality in addition to the unique design, we speak of a KOYA garden sauna as a product that will last for a long time.
If, despite their high durability, a demolition is required, our building materials can be dismantled into their components and easily recycled.
Before a planned sauna session, the oven must first heat up.
This can be done either directly via the sauna control or via an app on a smartphone, iPhone, iPad or tablet.
The preheating time of your KUMO garden sauna is approx. 20 minutes.
For larger KUMO models, the lead time can be up to 35 minutes.
Yes, the outdoor sauna has a completely insulated and load-bearing floor structure. This means that the building is completely sealed and there are no unwanted cold or heat bridges.
The KOYA garden sauna stands on adjustable feet and thus floats slightly in the air.
This has the advantage that the sauna is not simply placed on the existing floor, as is often the case with garden houses and budget products.
In addition, the slight elevation of the sauna house greatly benefits the design. The cubist shape of the KOYA with its slightly rounded edges supports the strong shape of the designer garden sauna and presents the product as a confident garden object.
The lighting situation in a sauna is largely responsible for the well-being of the users. While unpleasant, bright light usually has a deterrent and disturbing effect, warm, soft light creates a relaxed atmosphere and contributes to a calm, balanced mood.
For the lighting of the KOYA garden sauna, we use high-quality and waterproof LED lighting, which is easy to operate using an app or the sauna control.
The KOYA light sources are discreetly installed on the edges of the ceiling, as grazing light on the walls and as a light accent under the benches.
What is important when it comes to lighting in a garden sauna?
First of all, it is important that the chosen light is unobtrusive, not too bright but also not too dark.
Indirect lighting tends to be more elegant than direct lighting.
Ideally, the light in the sauna can be dimmed to warm white tones or even colour-adjusted. Lighting with so-called spotlights should be avoided at all costs, as this type of light radiates a kind of "stage character" that is not normally desired in an intimate sauna atmosphere.
When using colored light, it should also be possible to dim it, which can also be used to display "pastel" colors that do not appear too strong or garish.
In a KOYA sauna, we have solved the issue of lighting in the best possible way for you, so that you no longer have to worry about feasibility and aesthetics.
We wish you an enjoyable experience with our balanced accent lighting!
The right sauna accessories are essential for the perfect sauna session.
Every garden sauna has its own style. Some saunas are more modern in their design, while others have a more classic look. Saunas that combine a modern style with a classic design are particularly popular at the moment.
The KOYA garden sauna tends to embody a modern sauna house, which is equipped inside with either modern or classic elements.
In keeping with the design, we have selected only functional and at the same time attractive sauna accessories for the KOYA outdoor sauna.
The following equipment is available for a KOYA garden sauna:

After deciding to take a sauna, first switch on the sauna control and select the desired mode for your sauna bath.
Now set the desired temperature at which you feel comfortable when sweating.
In the classic application area, this is the "Finnish sauna" mode, which heats the room temperature to 90-110 degrees. However, some users also prefer a low temperature of 30-60 degrees or a moderate temperature of 60-80 degrees Celsius. As is well known, tastes and sensitivities differ.
As a rule of thumb:
It is better to use the sauna at a higher temperature for a short time than to take a long sauna session at a lower temperature!
Procedure for a Finnish-style sauna session (oven temperature 90-110 degrees)
Take a light shower before each sauna session. This removes the film on the skin and opens the pores so that you can sweat better later.
Enter the sauna after you have dried yourself off slightly. This will make it easier for your body to sweat than if it is still covered in water.
Whether you are sitting or lying down in your outdoor sauna, always place a towel underneath you when taking a sauna. This will protect the wood from discoloration and protect your skin from the heated surface of the benches.
A sauna session should last between 8-15 minutes. No more.
During the sauna session, an infusion can be done in the last third of the time. The maximum time you should stay after an infusion is 5-6 minutes.
After the sauna, you should sweat for about 2-3 minutes and then take a cold shower or breathe deeply in the fresh air. After that, your heart rate will calm down and you will experience the maximum relaxation effect.
The cooling time between two sauna sessions should be about 15-20 minutes in total.
You should allow at least 30 minutes for cooling down between each sauna session.
Important information when using the sauna:
Pregnant women, elderly people, people with heart problems or other health-affecting illnesses should consult a doctor before using a sauna.
Basically, the sauna room must always be sufficiently ventilated so that there is enough oxygen in the room.
Avoid going to the sauna immediately after intensive sporting activity or other strenuous activity.
Do not enter the sauna without having something in your stomach. But also make sure that you have not eaten a large meal just a few minutes beforehand.
If you feel nauseous or dizzy, make sure you leave the sauna room immediately.
Even though a sauna session has a preventative effect on the immune system, you should never go to the sauna if you are beginning to have a cold or an acute infection.
Never block the entrance door to a sauna. Always make sure that the sauna door can be opened from both sides and cannot be locked!
Basically, saunas are not a competition. Give your body time to get used to the high temperatures. Increase slowly. The same applies to the cooling down process. (Always pour cold water from the legs to the center of the body)
Safety instructions for sauna heater:
Before using the sauna heater and sauna control for the first time, read the enclosed operating instructions carefully and follow the instructions.
The electrical connection of the sauna heater must be carried out by a specialist! If you do the connection yourself, there is a high risk of fire.
Attention: The surface of the sauna heater becomes very hot after switching on and must not come into contact with skin.
Instructions for using the sauna heater for infusions:
It is particularly important that herbs or essences do not get into the vaporizer bowl when making infusions. Aromatic essences and herbs should only be added to the infusion water according to the manufacturer's instructions. Never use alcoholic liquids or concentrates, as this could cause a fire hazard.
When making an infusion, the water should always be poured over the stones!
Certification of oven products:
The sauna heaters used for KOYA comply with DIN EN 60335-1 "Safety of electrical appliances for household and similar purposes", DIN EN 60335-2-53 "Particular requirements for sauna heaters and infrared modules" and comply with DIN VDE 0100 703.
How do I clean the interior of my KOYA sauna?
If you have decided to clean your garden sauna, you should first make sure that your sauna has cooled down and has not been in use.
If possible, use a slightly damp, clean cloth to clean the wooden components (walls, ceilings, benches). To help, you can also use a professional sauna care product that is specifically designed for high-quality sauna wood. When using it, make sure that you never wipe too wet, as the sauna wood may absorb moisture, which in turn can lead to new stains and splitting.
If you find particularly stubborn dirt on the wood, you can lightly sand the surface of the sauna in an emergency. Important: Under no circumstances should the fine sauna wood be coated in any way after sanding!
Care and cleaning of the sauna stove:
The sauna heater used for the KOYA garden sauna is waterproof and can be cleaned and descaled with mild cleaning agents. You can use agents such as a light soap solution for oil and fat residues, as well as citric acid or vinegar to remove limescale from stones and rust.
To ensure that the stove functions properly, you should always ensure that the sauna stove's ventilation openings remain free of dirt and dust so that air circulation continues to function properly.
The sauna ventilation, fans and grilles must also be checked regularly for deposits and dust fluff. Remove the residue so that you can enjoy your outdoor sauna for a long time.
If the sauna stove is used regularly, the stones should be removed from time to time, cleaned and replaced if necessary.
The evaporator tank must be emptied after each use and cleaned of limescale and other (trace) elements depending on the degree of contamination. Suitable cleaning agents are acetic acid, citric acid or other limescale cleaners that are suitable for use with aluminum tanks.
Last but not least, after a sauna session, do not forget to ventilate the room thoroughly before closing the cabin door for a longer period of time.
Cleaning the sauna control
The sauna controls on the outside of the cabin (control unit with screen) should be wiped down regularly with a damp cloth.
In special cases, a mild soap can also be used.
We hope you enjoy your always fresh KOYA outdoor sauna!
A KOYA garden sauna has a permanently installed sauna ventilation system.
The sauna ventilation ensures that sufficient oxygen flows into the interior of the garden sauna during the sauna session and that the moist air created by sweat or evaporation (e.g. through infusions) can escape properly.
The sauna ventilation draws fresh air into the sauna room in the lower area of the sauna stove, which is heated directly by the stove and rises. The heated air then cools off on the bodies of the sauna users and sinks back to the floor, where it is then discharged again via vents opposite the sauna stove.
In addition to the electric sauna ventilation, which ensures a pleasant climate during the sauna session, manual ventilation is also recommended after each sauna session. To do this, open the door of your garden sauna and allow the air to completely circulate for a few minutes. This helps to prevent odors from forming and allows moisture to escape from the cabin.
The temperature is not the same everywhere in a sauna room. The temperatures in the upper part of the sauna are usually higher than in the lower part. As a result, it is recommended that beginners start with the lower sauna bench and only spend a short time in the room. Over time and with increasing stamina, you can then work your way up to the upper sauna bench and longer periods of use.
In the standard version, the KOYA sauna module has two benches for sitting and lying down. This means that the sauna cabin is divided into several climate zones. Basically, you can say that the measurable temperature changes with the height. In concrete terms, this means that it is significantly hotter in the upper part of a sauna than at the bottom. In a sauna set to 90 degrees, this means temperature differences of up to 50 degrees between just above the floor and directly below the ceiling.
However, it is not just the temperature that changes in the garden sauna depending on the level, but also the humidity. This decreases significantly as you go higher. In practice, this means that if you have a stove set to 90 degrees, for example, you will measure around 50% humidity on the floor, but only 5% under the ceiling.
(These are only approximate values - measured values can of course vary depending on the circumstances)
However, after all the theory, only one thing should count for you:
If you feel comfortable, you have found the right level and the right length of stay in your garden sauna!
We wish you much success and a good recovery!
Hot water is poured onto the stones of the KOYA design oven and evaporates immediately. The water vapor in the air settles on the skin and prevents the body from giving off heat to the environment. This in turn means that the user perceives the temperature in the sauna as being significantly higher than it actually is. Aromas, herbal essences or essential oils can also be added to the warm or cold infusion water, which in turn has a positive effect on all of the body's senses. The key here is to try things out and find the perfect infusion experience for you.
By taking a sauna regularly, you strengthen your immune system and help your body to reduce stress and tension. As your body warms up, your body temperature rises slightly, your blood vessels expand and your muscles relax.
After the sauna, the skin and respiratory tract are briefly cooled down with a cold shower or fresh air. Later, by lying down on a lounger, ideally in a quiet, warm place, a complete meditative state of relaxation occurs.
How often should I use the KOYA garden sauna?
Unless you suffer from high blood pressure and your family doctor has given you the go-ahead to use a sauna regularly, you can use your sauna several times a week.
If you only go to the sauna once a week, you can have up to three sauna sessions in a row with appropriate rest periods. If you go to the sauna twice a week, you should only have two sauna sessions. If you visit your garden sauna more than twice a week, one sauna session should be sufficient.
